Surat-al-Ma'un

Guest

أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِى يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ
فَذَٲلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
فَوَيۡلٌ۬ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِہِمۡ سَاهُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ
وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. Have you seen him who denies the Recompense?
2. That is he who repulses the orphan,
3. And urges not the feeding of the poor,
4. So, woe unto those performers of Salah,
5. Those who are with their Salaat are Sahun.
6. Those who do good deeds only to be seen,
7. And withhold Al-Ma 'un.

General Tafseer

This is a Makkan surah which describes some of the qualities of those who deny the Day of Judgement. There are five different qualities explained in this surah of seven ayah.

repulses orphan
urges not feeding of poor
neglects prayers (not praying on time, without humility)
does good deeds to be seen
refuses ma'un
