As-Salaamu alaikum

Bid'ah - Linguistically it means innovation or invention. In religious terminology it is any act of a religious nature, particularly in worship, that is determined to be newly invented. Meaning, that it did not exist in the time of the Prophet (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam). Intentional performance, adherence to, and advocacy of a Bid’ah is a major sin.
