Arafat - This is a great plain just outside of Makkah upon which it is required to stay for some time during the Hajj in order for the Hajj to be considered valid. The Day of Arafat falls on the 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah and is a day of fasting for those not performing the Hajj. Sometimes spelled Arafah.

A famous place of pilgrimage on the southeast of Makkah about 25 kilometers way.
